The new Suns Coach for 2009 is unveiled

Juan Scaron

Juan has accepted the Job and is already hard at work preparring for the commencement of training and the Season.

In conjuction to this news we are holding a get together at Myer Park on Tuesday 20th January to get everyone together and meet Juan and the working committee. There will be a BBQ and a kick at the park so bring your boots.

We will also be unveiling a few other surprises that will be apart of our 2009 season. Please let everyone know if they havent heard. We are trying to get a contact lsit organised so we can keep you all aware of news and events, there will be a small form to fill out on the day to help us achieve this. If you can not make it on the day please email us on newcastlesuns@live.com and I can email you a copy.

Furthermore training is due to commence on Tuesday 3rd Febuary 2009, Location TBA, further news will be announced closer to the date.

SUNS MUST WIN LAST GAME OF THE COMP

Newcastle Suns season for 2007 will be determined through the last match of the competition. Suns need to Win to ensure they remain in the Top 4. Game will not be easy though as Plattsburg are only 1 point behind the Suns and they will be hoping to upset the Suns and earn a Top 4 spot themselves.

We are confident the Suns Will WIN, on the weekend the Suns lost to inform New Lambton 3 - nil, the goals coming from a penalty and the other 2 goals New Lambton couldn't beleive they scored themselves they were so lucky. The Suns showed some encouraging signs, with the Defence being solid through Steven Zulumovski and Chella (Alex Necovski). The Midfield was also good, Steven Kacev dictating terms and Sash Micevski showed some brilliant passages of play as he continually beat defenders only to lack some support. Up front the Suns missed Goran Novacevski !!!!!!!!!!!! Pol Krstevski and Lorrie Sottovia created lots of chances but missed lots of easy chances too. George Stojkovski came on to assist Pol and Lorrie but we continued to miss chance after chance. Suns Urgency and Hunger in front of Goal needs to improve, the Talent is there. Suns will welcome back the return of Goran Novacevski, Vladica Popovic who will further strengthen the Defence and Robert Gorsevski is also due back. Look Out for the Suns at the business end of the season. SUNS WIN AND THROUGH TO SEMI-FINALS

Newcastle Suns 1st Grade put in a huge effort to come back from 2 nil down to Beat Plattsburg 3 - 2. Plattsburg were awarded an early penalty and all the 50/50 calls were going to platsburg giving them the momentum. Plattsburg took advantage of the favourable calls from the Ref and scored a well worked 2nd Goal. The Boyz did not give up though and minutes from half time Suns were awarded a free kick 35 metres out. Kracka stepped up and fired an absolute BOMB leaving the keeper with no chance what so ever. The Big crowd that turned up to support the Suns were now more vocal and very optimistic with our chance to win the game. The Suns came out in the second half pumped up and the Suns dominated play. Kracka scoring the equaliser and then Lorrie scoring the winner. The Large Number of Suns supporters were estatic with the Win. 1st Grade Lose Semi _ Final

Suns 1st Grade lost there Semi-Final match to NewLambton 4 - 0. Although the scoreline would suggest otherwise the Suns put on a great exibition of Football and Outplayed NewLambton accross the Park, Luck just wasn't on our side. Team Lineup: (T.Velovski, P.Talevski, A.Necovski, J.Beleff, S.Zulumovski, S.Kacev, S.Micevski, T.Nikolovski, S.Micevski, G.Novacevski, L.Sottovia. res. R.Gorsevski, A.Todorovski, G.Stojkovski, T.Matevski, P.Krstevski. unavail. V.Popovic, S.Cocomanovski, T.Stojanovski.). The first 10 minutes New Lambton had all the play putting on continued pressure on the Suns Goal through Ben Lane's crosses, corners and free kicks. New Lambton were unlucky not to score 1 or 2 goals during this passage of play. The game then started to even out. The Suns now growing in confidence started to dominate play through solid midfiled play by Steven Kacev and Sash Micevski. A skillful passing game and for 25 minutes the Suns just bombarded the New Lambton Goal with Goal Scoring opportunities. Quality strikes including an amazing overhead kick by Goran Novacevski. New Lambton keeper was the Hero saving numerous chances. The Suns should have scored at least 5 goals during this period after having some 20 shots on goal and goal scoring opportunites. Chances were not taken. After half time New Lambton scored a second goal after an error by the Suns defence, really a cheap goal. 2 - 0 down. Goce Stojkovski (chucky), Robert Gorsevski (PK), and Pol Krstevski (Kracka) come on to the field with a more attacking formation, Suns start to dominate again, penalty awarded after Kracka takes on the defence and is fouled inside the box, Gozza Novacevski strikes the ball well but the Keeper saved the shot. Minutes later Lorrie is brought down inside the box and another penalty awarded. This time Kracka steps up to take the kick. The crowd expecting a Bomb to rip through the net Kracka hit the ball with a side foot and pushes the ball wide of the post. Suns continued to push forward and were just unable to score, conceding 2 late goals on the counter attack. Well Done to the Players and Coaching Staff on a good season a season that could have been a Premiership Winning one. Better luck next Year.
